A Slo Weekend: Part One
For Katelyn's 20th birthday we decided to run away from the city for the weekend and explore Crystal's hometown, San Luis Obispo. What we found was a beautiful landscape of rolling hills, lots of cows, and miles of beaches.
Hearst Castle is a magnificent estate nestled on over 200,000 acres of farm land on the coast of California. We took the "Grand Rooms" guided tour, which took us through the formal living room, dining room, game room, theater, and through the gardens.
The architecture was absolutely incredible. As soon as we got off the bus that took us up the hill to the castle, it felt like we entered into the south of France.
One of the most interesting things we learned about Hearst Castle was that it was designed by Julia Morgan, the very first woman in California to receive her architects license in the 20's. Every single tile on the property was drawn by her. Girl Power!!
Hearst Castle was definitely the highlight of our trip. We had a great time wandering through the gardens and exploring the property.
Check back later this week for our Slo Weekend: Part Two!
